Aaron Taggart

Licensing Analyst - Physical Sciences

As a Licensing analyst – Physical Sciences, Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC), Aaron works as a part of a multidisciplinary team that assess potential commercial impact of new invention disclosures made by Purdue faculty, staff, and students. Aaron drafts contract amendments, monitors contract compliance and monitors other aspects of relationships with licensees and collaborators.

Aaron Taggart has a BS in Chemistry from SUNY Binghamton (2014), research project on conductive materials for flexible solar cells. He gained a PhD in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill (2020) where he conducted a thesis on atomic-scale treatments of surface defects present in semiconductor materials used for photovoltaics and artificial photosynthesis.

  • If you could go back in time to have dinner with one person, who would that be? Carl Sagan, he seemed like such a kind and fascinating guy, as well as a great science communicator.
  • What is one invention that you just couldn’t live without? Recording technology – the world would be less bright if we couldn’t listen to music whenever we wanted to.
  • Other than safety and fuel efficiency, what is one aspect that you will not compromise on when searching for a new car? Trunk space, I have a drum kit that I need to take to the occasional gig.
