Patrick Finnerty, Senior Business Development Manager, Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC). In his role, Finnerty manages Purdue University’s biomedical engineering and medical device technologies. Working closely with Purdue inventors, he evaluates the commercial viability of these life-changing innovations and seeks to facilitate commercialization opportunities with both industry partners and technology start-ups.

Prior to joining OTC, Finnerty was a member of the technology transfer office at Dartmouth College and previously held industry positions at medical device start-ups and Fortune 500 corporations. His industry experience includes St. Jude Medical, Inc. (acquired by Abbott Laboratories), and Second Sight Medical Products, Inc., (an Alfred Mann Foundation start-up and leader in neuromodulation for the treatment of blindness.)

Finnerty holds an ME in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia and obtained his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

• Which of your many talents would you perform in a talent show?  I really don’t have any talents worthy of a talent show…I probably shouldn’t consider performing in one.
